The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be in the market for a big-name star. It doesn’t matter if they are the defending champions, or if they were a lottery team last season, there will always be speculation that an All-Star will join them in the offseason. This offseason is no different as many peers have linked names like Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young to the historic franchise. However, one under-the-radar All-Star is now being called the dream of the Lakers. That would be Lauri Markkanen. The Utah Jazz star might not be the hottest name, but he would certainly be a good fit for the Lakers.

If the Lakers were to successfully trade the one-time All-Star, it would give their offense an extra dimension. He would help stretch the floor and match up with Anthony Davis in the frontcourt. Especially when one considers how consistent Davis can be shooting from beyond the arc. This will allow Davis to focus on playing in the paint more and create more space for LeBron James and company. Markkanen will also be a formidable third star playing alongside LeBron James.
James has thrived throughout his career when surrounded by shooters. Lauri Markkanen shot 41.4 percent on the catch-and-shoot jumper this past season. He was also strong from three-point range shooting 39.9 percent. Not to mention that Markkanen is a player who doesn’t need the ball in his hand to be successful. He will work inside the offense while James and Davis are still finding their touch. With all of this in mind, Lauri Markkanen is a low-maintenance star who will give the Lakers what they need to compete for the top spot in the Western Conference.
Other Teams May Be Interested in Utah Jazz Star
The Los Angeles Lakers won’t be the only team looking to trade the Jazz star. As the anonymous GM said, Markkanen will be the dream of many other teams.
“There are a few teams that, if you look at them, they will be a dream team,” said the GM. “The Lakers, you get a guy like him
he and Anthony Davis, and that’s good for both guys. The Knicks would like to keep him. The Heat, too, brought him along
Bam (Adebayo) is also the two you want to build around, you can send Jimmy (Butler) anywhere he wants. “
As already mentioned, Markkanen may not be a household name like Trae Young, Jimmy Butler, or DeMar DeRozan. However, he would also be a great fit for many teams looking for another star, including the Lakers.
