‘Above all Gauti bhaiya…’: Harshit Rana praises Gautam Gambhir and his family for India’s maiden calling

A 22-year-old fast bowler Harshit Rana from Delhi has been named in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Rana, who represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024He expressed great happiness and gratitude in the interview he had with PTI.

The first thing Rana said was that she never gave up hope, even if she was facing obstacles. “Delhi mai Dil toot sakta hai per humne kabhi haar nahi maani (Delhi may break your heart, but I never gave up hope).“

Rana spoke candidly about the times she felt neglected and how her father’s unwavering support kept her motivated. “I believe in working hard, but I sit in my room and start crying every time I’m injured after being neglected in age groups. My father, Pradeep, never gave up hope.”

Rana also took to Instagram to share her feelings and gratitude.

“This is FOR YOU… I LOVE YOU DAD,” he wrote on Instagram.

Rana highlights Gambhir’s transformative influence on his career

Rana also explained how Gambhir, in particular, played a role in turning his career around. “Gauti bhaiya always tells me, ‘Mere ko tere pe trust hai. Tu match jeetake aayega.’ (I trust you; you can win the game).”

Rana recounts, emphasizing the confidence and encouragement Gambhir instilled in him.

“If you ask about pressure, it’s Gautam Gambhir’s advice. You’ll say, ‘What’s the worst that’s going to happen? He will be beaten, and we will lose the game. But how will you overcome your fear if you don’t face it?’

Rana’s rise in cricket: Ranji Trophy success to white-ball supremacy

Rana’s cricketing journey started on a high note with an excellent performance Ranji Trophy, where he took 28 wickets in just 7 matches. However, injuries have curtailed his appearances in red ball cricket. Despite these setbacks, Rana was very successful in white-ball cricket, taking 22 wickets in 14 matches during Vijay Hazare Medal and 28 wickets in 25 T20 matches.
