Ahmed Shehzad singled out Babar Azam for his poor figures in T20Is; calls Pakistan captain ‘fake king’

Babar Azam, the current captain of the Pakistan cricket team, enjoys great popularity and respect among cricket fans around the world. Often referred to as ‘The King’ by his promoters, Babar has built a reputation for his elegant style of batting and consistent performance across formats.

Babar Azam’s criticism of the way he played T20I

Despite his widespread respect, Babar has been criticized for his performance in T20 Internationals. Concerns have been raised over his strike rate and overall impact in major tournaments. Critics say his stats are not up to par with his title as one of the best batsmen in the world.

Ahmed Shehzad’s hard take on Babar

Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad he was very vocal in his criticism of Babar. Shehzad recently accused Babar of having inflated statistics that do not reflect his actual performance in important matches. In a video shared by Geo News, Shehzad highlighted several areas where he believed Babar did not do well and even said that Babar is a fake king.

“He has 112 strikeouts. He has an average of 26 in ICC events. You have played 207 balls in the powerplay but you have not hit a single six. I think my stats for the last eight years are better than yours. You are a fake king! We are playing to help Pakistan win championships but you are making fools of your fans on social media with your stats,” said Shehzad in a video shared by Geo News.

Another accusation against Babar

In addition, Shehzad alleged that Babar deliberately excluded suitable domestic players to maintain personal relations with certain underperforming players. He asked Babar to answer for his failure to deliver trophies to Pakistan.

“The least you can do now is to raise your hand and say ‘I have been given all the support and resources from the PCB. I got the players I wanted but I couldn’t bring silver to Pakistan. I’m really sorry.’ Now it’s time for you to return to domestic cricket to improve your stats and return to the Pakistan team,” added Shehzad.
