Alan Shearer warns Newcastle could ruin their season if they pull off a transfer deal
Alan Shearer will be devastated if Newcastle United sell Anthony Gordon.
The Magpies midfielder, who joined from Everton 18 months ago, has become a fan favorite at St. James’ Park.
The 23-year-old has continued his fine form and is now one of England’s top left-back strikers.
As such, speculation that the Merseyside-born winger could leave the north-east has begun.
Links to Liverpool emerged at the start of the window before Newcastle were able to navigate the Premier League’s Profit and Resilience (PSR) rules by offloading Yankuba Minteh from Brighton.

However, suggesting that an exit could be on the cards in the near future, club legend Shearer, who penned a BBC column ahead of the start of the Premier League season, said: “I would be surprised if they or Anthony Gordon leave at this stage, especially after the club sold two young players, Elliott Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, to meet the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
“I would be surprised, and disappointed, if Gordon was sold and I hope nothing happens with that.”
In his early years at St. James’ Park, Gordon, who is two years into his contract, has scored 13 goals and registered 11 assists in 64 games in all competitions.
