Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller fight for more points, Ruiz wants a rematch

ANDY RUIZ and JARRELL MILLER may have to battle again after scoring big in Los Angeles tonight.

Three judges’ scorecards came back 116-112 (for Miller) and the other two 114-114 leaving neither boxer happy with the result.

The second heavyweight fight on the card comes hot on the heels of Martin Bakole beating Jared Anderson. Ruiz vs. Miller, however, went a long way in a difficult case where the action was closely fought.

In the first half of the fight we saw examples of Ruiz’s speed which has served him well in his career but in the second half his inactivity – which has seen him fight just twice since losing to Anthony Joshua in their 2019 rematch – looked to catch him. Miller, on the other hand, will see this as a missed opportunity. Starting the fight stronger, and using more of a jab, could have paved the way for him to get the one round he needed to give the fight his way.

Reflecting on the fight, Ruiz said: “I think it was close. I would like to do it again here at the BMO stadium,” he was greeted by the roar of the crowd at the MLS stadium.

The former joint champion boasted that he believed he had done well despite not playing in the ring for two years.

Ruiz then revealed the details of the injury to his right hand that he suffered in the fifth round.

“He keeps coming back and forth, but like I said, let’s do it again.”

A dejected Miller said, “I know I’ve done enough [to win]. It’s called active anger. I threw clean punches. I made him support the whole war. I let my hands move as much as possible.”
