Ange Postecoglou confirms Tottenham injury ‘significant’ after Coventry shock
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has admitted that winger Wilson Odobert appears to have suffered a “very serious” injury.
Spurs made a £30m deal to sign 19-year-old Odobert from Burnley in the summer but saw his third start for the club cut short as a hamstring injury forced him off the pitch just 18 minutes into Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat. win over Coventry City.
Asked for an update on Odobert’s condition after the game, Postecoglou admitted: “It’s hard to say.
“Wilson looks very important so we’ll just have to wait and see.”
Odobert wasn’t the only one injured in the game as Spurs also lost fellow striker Timo Werner to injury late in the second half.
“Timo, and I’m not sure it was just fatigue,” revealed Postecoglou after the final whistle. “Unfortunately, both of them, they play in the same place. We hope it’s not too important.”
Late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson saw Spurs avoid a major upset at a time when the pressure was on Postecoglou. The manager will be hoping for positive injury updates ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Brentford.
