Ange Postecoglou is confident that the wonder forward will get playing time after Richarlison’s injury
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed which player will benefit the most from Richarlison’s latest injury.
The Brazilian will be out for several weeks after picking up a nasty injury in training.
And Postecoglou, who is preparing to face Newcastle United on Sunday, revealed that academy star Will Lankshear is in line to play in his first team.
Although the 19-year-old is also injured, his setback is not thought to be a bad one and will see him return much quicker than Richarlison.
“Yes, we are very happy about Will,” Postecoglou told reporters on Friday.
“Unfortunately, he picked up an injury in that game against Bristol Rovers, but he should be fine behind the window.
“That’s why we keep him with us, he and Mikey (Moore) are two young players that we will keep in the first team and the reason we will keep them in the first team is because. we feel that they will contribute and play.
“Whether that’s the Europa League or the Carabao Cup or the league, they’re part of the first team and if Richy’s out for a long time, Will will be part of it.
“Will and Mike have done very well in pre-season and we feel they will benefit from being in the first team.”
