Redick’s main competition throughout this process, at least for the past few weeks, has been James Borrego. The New Orleans Pelicans coach and former Charlotte Hornets head coach met with Lakers officials last week at the team’s practice facility and was impressive in his meetings, league and team sources said. Davis and Borrego had a brief fling in New Orleans before Davis’ rookie season, and the two have maintained a strong relationship.
