JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Appalachian League, in its fourth season as an integrated summer league, played its annual All-Star Game on July 23 at the home of the Johnson City Doughboys, the defending Appy League champions.

In a well-played game, West defeated Mpumalanga 4-1, with a freshman from Vanderbilt coming in. Brodie Johnston (2027), playing for Greeneville leading the league, taking home MVP honors.

Johnston was the most impressive player on the field on the day. After making a pitch in the home run the night before, he made his way onto the All-Star field.[…]
