Arsenal fans should be happy with what Declan Rice has to say

Arsenal star Declan Rice said he had “taken another step” towards feeling like himself after putting in a world-class display against Ireland in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

The midfielder stepped up in a tense situation at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and scored the Man of the Match as England secured all three points with a 2-0 win.

The Arsenal star ran the game as he opened the scoring in the first half before setting up Jack Grealish minutes later. After the win, Rice said he felt back to his best form as he revealed that he was not fully fit during the start of the Premier League season.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t feel fit until now,” the Gunners star told Sky Sports. “I was using the Premier League as my pre-season but today I feel I have taken a real step, I felt it inside me.

“I felt like I was coming back to myself, I felt happy, I felt like I could run around the field, I felt very strong.

“Personally, it was really good to get this game today and play 90, because I feel like I made another step and it will help me at Arsenal.”

These comments should please Arsenal fans as Rice is a key part of Mikel Arteta’s squad and the midfielder’s performance will go a long way in helping the North London club try to win the Premier League this season.
