“It hurts my heart to tell you all that I will not be able to play in the Championships this year,” Sabalenka wrote on the social media platform. “I tried everything to fix myself but unfortunately my shoulder is not working.”

Sabalenka spoke openly about her shoulder issue when speaking to the media before the tournament, admitting that she is far from 100 percent. The 26-year-old, who reached the semi-finals in his last two matches at Wimbledon, will be replaced by Lucky Loser. Erika Andreeva in the painting.

The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given how the former World No.1 spoke about his condition on Saturday at SW19.

“I’m not even 100 yet,” said Sabalenka. “We are doing everything we can with my team to make sure that I will be able to play my first game here.

“But, no, I’m not ready for 100 yet.”

Sabalenka’s absence will open up the bottom half of the draw. Top-10 seeds in that division include No.2 seed Coco Gauff, seventh seed Jasmine Paolini, eighth seed Zheng Qinwen and ninth seed Maria Sakkari.
