Asian Women’s Cup 2024, BAN-W vs IND-W Semi-Final First Match Report, July 26, 2024

Bangladesh he chose to hit vs India

Nigar Sultana, the Bangladesh captain, made the right call and chose to bat first in a bid to put pressure on the Indian board in the qualifier, the first semi-final of the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla.
They made one change from their 114-run win over Malaysia, with fast bowler Marufa Akter replacing Sabikun Jesmin. It meant that Marufa would work with experienced salesman Jahanara Alam; Bangladesh changed their template to field two specialist seamers and their battery of spinners.
India made the left-hander’s year a bit more, by opting for young wicketkeeper Uma Chetry as a specialist batsman. He replaces D Hemalatha, who has had an extended run at No. 3 without that big score in 10 innings since his return to the world in April.

Another change in the speed department was straightforward. Pooja Vastrakar, who was rested for India’s last match against Nepal, is back in place of Arundhati Reddy. The composition of India’s spin attack remained unchanged with Tanuja Kanwar, the left-arm spinner, retaining his place. Kanwar was named in place of the injured Shreyanka Patil after the first match against Pakistan.

Harmanpreet is back after a break, having missed the previous team match for India. He replaced S Sajana.

Bangladesh will be hoping to bring back fond memories in the 2018 Asia Cup final, where they beat India. The recent outing in Bangladesh in April went in India’s favor in convincing fashion as they swept the T20I series 5-0.
