Atletico Madrid want to sign Conor Gallagher
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been tipped to leave the club in recent months.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with English clubs, but it has yet to materialise. He will be out of contract with Chelsea next season and the Blues will not want to lose him if he is sold for free. If he does not sign an extension with them, the player may be sold this summer.
It looks like Atletico Madrid are keen on securing his signature and Gallagher’s England team-mate Kieran Trippier could help orchestrate the move.
Trippier has previously played for Atletico Madrid and is trying to help the Spanish club sign the England midfielder.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Atletico Madrid Director Andrea Berta wants to sign Gallagher and hopes to use Trippier to convince the player.
It will be interesting to see if the Spanish club can agree a deal with Chelsea in the coming weeks. They will be hoping to sign him at a reasonable price given the nature of his contract. Atletico Madrid already have a bid rejected for the midfielder and they will have to come up with an improved offer to complete the deal.
Gallagher will promote Atletico Madrid
Gallagher has established himself as a key player for Chelsea in the Premier League and captained the team on several occasions last season. There is no doubt that he would be a top quality signing for Atletico Madrid if they can get a deal done. His work rate, drive and fitness are great qualities in Diego Simeone’s field.
Atletico Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the England international is happy to play for them.
