Austin Remembers The Moment He Stopped ‘Hating’ LeBron James
Lakers guard Austin Reaves has been very open about the fact that he wasn’t always a big fan of LeBron James and he made it clear when he stopped hating the Lakers a lot.
Last year, social media posts of Reaves hating on LeBron from 2012 surfaced, but now that he’s teaming up with LeBron, he seems to be in full swing.
“LeBron asked me a lot of questions,” Reaves said BustaJack Golf. “Which is more than you probably want me to do, to be honest. But when you’re playing with the greatest of all, how can you not try to pick his brain? I asked him what he thought his senior year was, not in terms of championships but in terms of athleticism, skill, and experience. To me, I think his best year was the year they lost to KD (Kevin Durant) and Steph (Stephen Curry) in the finals. That was the year I finally stopped hating him.”
In the same episode, Reaves continued to defend LeBron’s latest title in the 2020 bubble.
“It’s not a Mickey Mouse ring,” Reaves said. “… Everyone had a level playing field, I think it’s the same as other years. I just think if Bron doesn’t win it, no one will say anything. Everyone hates Bron. Basically, everybody loves LeBron, but he gets a lot of hate.”
Another NBA player, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope defended the title for the Lakers not long ago.
In July, he told Draymond Green on The Draymond Green Show that, “It is one of the most difficult competitions to win. You play the season, then the season is closed. You don’t know if he will come back to play basketball.”
