Australian icon Ricky Ponting calls the Indian bowler ‘A batsmen’s nightmare

“The best way to get a real rating on these players is to ask (other) players. And when you talk to opposition batsmen about him (Bumrah) in particular, it’s always, ‘No, he’s a nightmare! You never know what will happen,” he added.

Ponting also spoke about the concerns raised about Bumrah’s health a few years ago when he was injured. However, Ponting believes Bumrah has come back from that injury stronger than ever.

“Maybe there was some fear a few years ago when the injuries came in and ‘is he going to come back the same?’, but I think he’s come back better,” Says an Australian legend.

Ponting also highlighted Bumrah’s consistency and ability, which has allowed him to maintain his high level of performance for a long time.

“One person will swing, another will seam, he will bowl an inswinger, he will bowl an off-spinner,” he said, explaining Bumrah’s versatility.

“If you have that ability and the consistency he has, you’re going to be a great player. Look (Glenn) McGrathlook to (James) Andersonthese guys, their longevity and their ability to hold on for so long is what sets them apart from the rest,” Added ponting.
