Opening day i the first Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka started with excitement, as the fast bowler of Bangladesh. Hasan Mahmud pulled off a moment of genius to remove the South African captain Aiden Markram.
In South Africa’s first innings, Mahmud bowled a stunning inswinger that left Markram with nothing to do, giving the home team a chance.

The wicket came in the first over of the South African innings. Mahmud delivered a well-placed inswinger to Markram, catching the skipper off guard. The ball, pitched on a good length, came in sharply after hitting the top. Markram stuck on the back foot, tried to defend the play with a straight stick but was beaten by the move. The ball missed the outside edge and crashed into the top of middle stump. Markram was dismissed for 6 runs in 7 balls, leaving South Africa to lose early. This superb delivery set the tone for what was shaping up to be an eventful day of Test cricket.

South Africa starts slowly with football
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh’s batting line-up faltered, as they were bowled out for 106 in their first innings. The South African bowlers played well, their attack proved to be superior to all the Bangladeshi batsmen. Wiaan Mulder, Kagiso Rabada again Keshav Maharaj were outstanding, with three wickets each. While Dane Piedt added one wicket to the tally, Maharaj was the most economical, conceding only 2.10 runs in the over, which contributed to Bangladesh’s downfall.
After dismissing Bangladesh, the Proteas started their first innings cautiously. However, they faced their challenges, as Mahmud’s brilliant bowling continued to put pressure on the hosts. At the end of the second session, South Africa were on 65 for the loss of two wickets. The team is still trailing by 41 runs at the tea break, the game is in good shape as it goes into the last half of the day.
