Cricket Victoria announced two newly created roles for each BBL team following years of underperformance before Seccombe left Queensland. Previously, the top operations of the two Melbourne BBL clubs including roster management, coaching and senior structures were handled by two team managers Blair Crouch (Stars) and James Rosengarten (Renegades) in addition to overseeing all commercial operations. their clubs.

Seccombe will move from Brisbane to Melbourne to play full time with the Renegades later this month.

McKay moves from the backroom team at the Stars, where he was the bowling coach, to his new role as he has been involved in the Stars’ overseas programs and roster. McKay was also given the opportunity to coach in Australia two years ago as white-ball bowling coach when incumbent Daniel Vettori was either rested or promoted to permanent position.

The appointment of the pair will bring greater alignment between the two BBL teams and Victoria’s successful program run by Graham Manou.

“It’s really exciting to be able to have two people of Clint and Wade’s caliber join our cricket program at Cricket Victoria and work closely with both Big Bash clubs,” Manou said.

“They will play a key role in talent management and talent identification with a strong focus on T20 skills and potential. They will be an active part of our existing excellence and development programs, re-emphasizing T20 cricket in our programs.”

Previously, BBL clubs made roster management decisions outside of Victoria’s system. That is likely to change with the selection of two after Nic Maddinson was dropped from the Renegades roster and decided to leave the Victoria program and head home to New South Wales.
