BCCI announces INR 125 crore prize for T20 World Champions India

The BCCI will award the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup a bonus of INR 125 crore (USD 15 million approx.). Board secretary Jay Shah made the announcement at X’s press conference, a day after India won a thrilling final against South Africa by seven runs in Barbados.

“I am happy to announce the prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” said Shah. “The team displayed incredible talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this incredible achievement!”

The ICC has already announced a prize money of USD 2.45 million for the winners of this world cup and an additional USD 31,154 per match won (per team), excluding semi-finals and finals. The ICC prize money is the highest in the history of the men’s T20 World Cup, a jump of USD 850,000 from the USD 1.6 million won by England in 2022.

Overall, all teams will receive more prize money/participation in the tournament than ever before. The tournament’s total prize money has doubled from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million this year, meaning an increase in prize money for all 20 participating teams.

As runners-up, South Africa won USD 1.28 million (up from USD 800,000 in 2022), while semi-finalists Afghanistan and England received USD 787,500 (up from USD 400,000 in 2022) each.
