Ben Foster says Callum Wilson is still in trouble

Newcastle are aiming for a successful finish to the season, with Callum Wilson returning to goal-scoring form in the hope of firing them into the Europa League for 2024/25.
The Magpies have suffered a shock injury blow during the current campaign, with Wilson sitting on the treatment table.
According to transmarkt, he had four separate injuries in 2023/24, which kept him out of 26 games in total.
It’s that kind of problem that Ben Foster believes will have a big impact on Wilson being left behind when Gareth Southgate picks his England squad for the European Championship.
“I think Callum Wilson has been a bit overlooked (in England) because of his injury record,” Foster said on the Football Fill-In podcast.
“And it’s about Newcastle, they’re working on him this week to get him ready for Saturday’s game. He’s probably having a really down week, resting and recovering because he’s at risk of injury and I think that’s the problem when it comes to England.
“The players who will not be on the field on Saturday afternoon or at three o’clock or whenever it comes, you need 15 other players, other players to be there. I need them every day to be there in training to keep all the discipline, to keep the standards high, and I worry that Callum Wilson won’t be able to do that for Gareth Southgate. “
