Dan Bradbury won the French Open after shooting a final round 66 at Le Golf National in Paris
The 25-year-old Yorkshireman fired a five-under-par closing round at the 2018 Ryder Cup to win by one shot over the quartet of Sam Bairstow, Yannik Paul, Thorbjørn Olesen and Jeff Winther.
After birdieing the first hole, Bradbury remained patient as he birdied the next eight and earned his second birdie lead of the day on the 10th.
At times he was part of the 11-parter for the first round but he stood out as he made three birdies in a row on the 14th hole.
Winther signed to lead the clubhouse at 15 under and at that number he was joined by Paul while Bradbury played a difficult final four holes at Le Golf National at two under par.
He held his nerve on the 18th as he two-putted 16-under par and Olesen and Bairstow were able to put together a final par to join the team in second place.
Bradbury started the week ranked 98th in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, fighting to secure his playing rights for next season, and left Le Golf National having secured his place in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai next month. .
He said: “When I qualified for Wentworth in the PGA, I was 100th in the rankings with a few events to come and a lot of points to be had, I knew I was far from safe. Luckily I had a good week in Madrid and I played well at Dunhill, so I had built up some momentum, and I went into this week and played four strong rounds. “
“I always look at the leaderboards, so I knew it was a good combination coming down. It was just a matter of sitting in it, and seeing what was happening, and thankfully I was able to hold it together. “
