Brazil predicted to face Mexico

Brazil will face Mexico in a Copa America qualifying friendly before the tournament starts at the end of June.

Dorival Junior’s team will face Mexico’s Jaime Lozano ahead of the Copa America which starts on June 20. Brazil will face Mexico and the United States in an international friendly as one of the favorites in the entire tournament begins to rise. Led by Real Madrid’s trio of LaLiga and Champions League winners Eder Militao, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, Brazil arguably have the strongest starting line-up on paper at the Copa America.

Using these friendlies wisely to test tactics, increase fitness levels and ensure the right squad rotation will be crucial for Brazil going into this year.

Here is how the Selecao could play against Mexico on Saturday.

GK: Alisson – The Liverpool goalkeeper is Brazil’s number one between the goals and will get important minutes to get into rhythm with his backline. Alisson is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world and arguably the best goalkeeper in the Copa America alongside Emiliano Martinez.

RB: Danilo – The Juventus defender is the Brazilian’s best option at RB right now, unless Dorival Junior wants to go with a different formation or experiment.

CB: Marquinhos – The long-time PSG hero will lead the backline. Expect Marquinhos to feature prominently in all of these Copa America friendlies.

CB: Eder Militao – Militao came off the bench in the Champions League final to strengthen the defense. Brazil has a number of quality CBs, so expect Militao to start against Mexico.

LB: Wendell – Wendell is likely to be the main left-back in Brazil this summer. The Porto defender will be making his third appearance for the national team here.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes – The Newcastle United midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, but is fully focused on international work. He is expecting a big summer.

CM: Douglas Luiz – Another Premier League midfielder who has always been the subject of transfer rumours, Luiz has teamed up with Guimaraes to form a dominant midfield.

CM: Lucas Paqueta – Paqueta will be the first creative player in midfield alongside Luiz and Guimaraes.

LW: Vinicius Junior – Ballon d’Or talk of Vini will only heat up this summer if he continues to perform at a high level after scoring in the Champions League final.

ST: Rodrygo – Vini’s Real Madrid teammate gets the lead start.

RW: Raphinha – Raphinha joins the attacking trio to form a full LaLiga lineup.
