Brighton vs Man Utd: Preview, predictions and fixtures

Manchester United wrap up their difficult 2023/24 Premier League season away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

United did not enjoy their recent clash with the Seagulls; they lost the last four in the league. However, they defeated Robert De Zerbi’s side in the FA Cup semi-finals last season on penalties.

Erik ten Hag has another FA Cup final to look forward to after Sunday’s game, but this could be his last Premier League outing as United manager if he fails to convince Sir Jim Ratcliffe to keep him this summer.

However, the Dutchman produced one of United’s best performances of the season on Wednesday as they beat Newcastle 3-2 at Old Trafford. Victory on Sunday and Ten Hag will avoid the tag of being the manager who will lead the club through its worst Premier League season.

The Red Devils are up against a Brighton side who have been wanting the season to end for some time. The Seagulls could end up as low as 13th if results don’t go their way on Sunday – a fate that could mean a disappointing relegation after qualifying for the Europa League last season. They come into the country having been beaten at home by Chelsea during the week.

Here it is 90 min preview of Sunday’s season finale at the Amex.

There is little chance of much return from injury for Brighton’s final game of the season on Sunday.

Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Solly March, Pervis Estupinan, Jack Hinselwood and James Milner will all miss out, with Jan Paul van Hecke (hamstring) and Joel Veltman (knock) both doubtful.

Joao Pedro picked up a knock to start in midweek, so he should keep his place in the team.

Brighton predicted to play against Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Lamptey, Webster, Dunk, Igor; Gilmour, Gross; Buonanotte, Pedro, Adingra; Welbeck.

Lisandro Martinez

Bruno Fernandes returned to the starting line-up on Wednesday after missing United’s last two games, while both Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford made cames from the bench. All three could be included in Ten Hag’s final XI for the start of the season.

The manager was hoping Mason Mount would play again before the end of the campaign, so the England international could make the squad for Sunday.

United will also be without Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial and Victor Lindelof.

Man Utd predicted to face Brighton (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Evans, Martinez, Dalot; Amrabat, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

Wednesday’s win over Newcastle was a rare bright night for Ten Hag’s United, and they will be looking to carry that momentum into the final day.

United’s youngsters were star-studded in midweek and could do another game against a Brighton side who have clearly been out of action in 2023/24 for some time now.

Questions over Roberto De Zerbi’s future have plagued the Seagulls in the second half of the season, and although Sunday’s hosts have an excellent recent record against the Red Devils, Ten Hag’s side could improve on their recent performances and end the season on a bounce. -go back.

Prediction: Brighton 1-3 Man Utd
