Brock Boeser Subbed Out for Game 7 for Canucks – Hockey Writers – Vancouver Canucks
According to Irfaan Gaffar and Elliotte Friedman, Brock Boeser will miss Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night. Although it is too soon to predict if he will return this season if the Canucks eliminate the Oilers, Elliotte Friedman reports, “The exact time of his return is unknown, but several sources have confirmed that, thankfully, it is not considered a life-threatening condition.” He adds, “It’s a big loss for the Canucks, as Boeser is having a great season – leading Vancouver with seven goals and 12 assists in 12 playoff games.”
The news is surprising when you consider that Boeser spoke after Game 6 about how it wasn’t good enough to need a Game 7. At the time, it seemed like he was ready to play. Undoubtedly, this development is a significant contribution to both Boeser and the team.
Boeser has shown incredible resilience after overcoming a lot of adversity to deliver a stellar season. He overcame trying times in his personal life and trade rumors out of Vancouver to have an amazing year. He led the Canucks with 40 goals in the regular season and was instrumental in the playoffs, scoring seven goals and tying for the team lead in scoring this season.
Reports indicate that Boeser was one of three players who were not in the gym today, along with JT Miller and Tyler Myers. Although head coach Rick Tocchet listed the trio as “careful,” the seriousness of Boeser’s condition has since become apparent. Head coach Rick Tocchet also revealed that, despite some speculation, Thatcher Demko will not be ready for Game 7.
TSN’s Ryan Rishaug also reports that the Oilers are not completely healthy. Adam Henrique will not be able to return to the lineup.
Hope Boeser Gets Better And Gets Back Sooner Than Later
Boeser’s long-term health is now the biggest concern, and while the news is a huge blow to the Canucks, the focus is now on what many hope is a speedy and full recovery. His absence has no doubt hurt the Canucks as they face a crucial Game 7 without their leading scorer.
