Broner Vs. Cobbs: Watch Live Tonight on Thriller PPV
Former four-division champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) is set to return to the ring as he faces Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) on Friday June 7 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, live on Thriller TV PPV. The event starts at 8pm ET. The comedians are expected to enter the ring tonight, around 11:00 ET.
Promoted by the legendary Don King, this event features two of the biggest trash talkers in boxing. Adrien Broner and Blair Cobbs have both experienced significant periods of inactivity, but a win on Friday night will help the winner put his name back in the mix as far as certification contenders are concerned.
During the first 27 fights of his professional career, Adrien Broner was an undefeated fighter who won three titles in three different weight classes. On the night of December 14, 2013, Broner defended his WBA welterweight title against Marcos Maidana.
Maidana set the tone in the first round as he hit Broner multiple times with poor takedowns. Maidana continued to wear down Broner in the second and eighth rounds, as he earned a unanimous decision.
Despite the loss, Adrien Broner was still the marquee name, but he couldn’t win the big one. Broner has lost to Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia and Manny Pacquiao. After the January 2019 fight against Pacquiao, Broner faced unemployment and legal problems.
Adrien Broner will finally return to the ring in February 2021 as he defeated Jovanie Santiago via unanimous decision. Two years later Broner defeated Bill Hutchinson. Now the 34-year-old Broner is about to face a much more determined opponent.
Blair Cobbs began his pro boxing career with fifteen straight victories. In his 16th fight, Cobbs will face Alexis Rocha. Cobbs had some great moments in the fight, but was unfortunately stopped in the ninth round.
Five months later in August 2022, Blair Cobbs made a spectacular comeback against Maurice Hooker. Cobbs got off to a fast start as he fired a flurry of shots that sent Hooker to the canvas in the opening round of the contest.
Hook managed to get up, but Cobbs knocked him down twice in the second round. Cobbs was dominant throughout the tournament, winning by scores of 97-90, 97-90, and 96-91.
In his upcoming welterweight bout with Adrien Broner, Cobbs wants to take advantage of this opportunity. Cobbs has a chance to get a win against a known opponent, and set himself up for some big fights to come.
Blair Cobbs is an athletic southpaw with striking power, efficiency, and unique lateral movement. Adrien Broner is a sharp puncher who shows good punch placement, but his biggest problem is that sometimes he doesn’t let his hands go.
34-year-old Blair Cobbs is determined to make a name for himself at Adrien Broner’s expense. In the first press conference, Cobbs introduced his puppet Adrien Broner as he performed his punching act while Broner was on the podium talking to the media.
Adrien Broner is usually the punching man, but Cobbs was leading the way in the stomping department with the AB doll, references to Broner’s weight gain, and sudden entrances that disrupted Broner’s workout routine.
Blair Cobbs is the fighter looking to take over on the night of June 7. Will Adrien Broner be able to turn back the hands of time and become Prime AB aka the Can Man, or will Blair “The Flair’s” hunger and determination lead him to a signature win?
