Canucks’ JT Miller Takes Indefinite Break – Hockey Writers – Vancouver Canucks

It was announced Tuesday afternoon by the Vancouver Canucks that forward JT Miller will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team for personal reasons. While The Hockey Writers won’t speculate on the reasons behind the break, the announcement comes as a big loss for a team that hasn’t found its way this season.

Miller is currently tied for the team lead with six goals and second on the Canucks in points behind Quinn Hughes (18) with 16 in the team’s first 17 games. As for the team, they are currently in third place in the NHL’s Pacific Division with a 9-5-3 record in 17 games and 21 points – sitting behind the Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings in the division.

In a statement from the organization, general manager Patrik Allvin said, “Right now, our focus is to make sure JT knows the whole organization will support him. Out of respect for JT, we will not be commenting further at this time. “

Miller is coming off his best offensive season in 2023-24 when he had 37 goals and 103 points in 81 games for the Canucks. Over the past six seasons, he has amassed 149 goals and 418 points in 381 games with the Canucks.

In his career he had 244 goals and 655 points in 816 games with the Canucks, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Although there is no time for him to return to the Canucks list, the team will continue to take care of themselves without him, which has opened up the opportunity for other young players to step up to get opportunities in the top six of this team.
