Carlo Ancelotti hopes Nacho Fernandez will change his mind about leaving Real Madrid, as the defender nears the end of his contract.
The defender is expected to complete 12 years with the first team when his contract expires in June, after spending his entire career in the Madrid system.
It seems that he has made up his mind about leaving, as he has been linked with other clubs and even floated in the Spanish press. However, now Madrid boss Ancelotti has had his say on the matter, encouraging Nacho to rethink his decision.
As per MarcaAncelotti said: “Don’t do something stupid, stay here, with us, at Real Madrid.”
The defender made 45 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, including 12 in the Champions League. As the team’s captain, Nacho was instrumental in the season in which Madrid won the La Liga title and the Champions League trophy.
Although the player has reported that he feels underappreciated in his role, knowing that the Italian boss values his presence may be enough to convince Nacho to stay. Although, if they want to keep him, a contract agreement must be reached, before another team can come in.
Nacho has received rumors of interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr and Lionel Messi’s club Inter Miami.
Madrid transfers have been the hot topic at the moment, as the Spanish giants have finally sealed a deal to sign French star Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint-Germain hero is expected to join the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior as Madrid fight to retain the La Liga and Champions League crowns next season.
