Carlo Ancelotti revealed the decision on Jude Bellingham’s recurring injury
Carlo Ancelotti says he is not too worried about the recurrence of Jude Bellingham’s shoulder injury in time. Real Madrid won 4-1 against Espanyol on Saturday night.
Los Blancos cut the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona – who play on Sunday – to one point thanks to strikes from Dani Carvajal, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe, who fell behind early in the second half after Thibaut Courtois’ goal.
Bellingham started the second game in a row after missing four league games and the September international break earlier in the campaign with a hamstring problem, but the 21-year-old appeared to struggle with his shoulder during the win.
However, he managed to play 83 minutes before being sent off and manager Ancelotti said he did not think the issue was a major concern.
He said: “Jude has had a shoulder problem and it’s settled well. He was able to play the whole game without a problem. Let’s see how he does tomorrow although it doesn’t look like there’s anything to worry about.
“He always plays defensively, last month he took it off because he was fine but he had that problem again, tonight it was solved very well and he did not ask for a change as he has never done it before. .I don’t think it will be a problem, although it should be taken care of, obviously.”
Bellingham will hope to be available in midweek when Madrid continue their La Liga title defense against Alaves ahead of the big game against Atletico Madrid next weekend. They then return to Champions League action with a trip to Lille in early October.
On this result, Ancelotti added: “We started well and reacted well after 0-1. It was perfect. We played better than in other games; with more rhythm and generating more opportunities. I’m happy.”
