Chelsea are adding a £70m defender to transfer shortlist

Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, several reports have revealed.

The Blues are determined to strengthen their defense and have already brought in Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham as a replacement for Thiago Silva.

Brazilian store OL they were the first to express Chelsea’s interest in Murillo. The 21-year-old caught the eye in his first campaign with Forest and appears to be a perfect fit for Chelsea’s youth-focused project.

A price tag of £51m has been suggested, although it is stressed that Chelsea will not pay such a price and are instead looking at a possible transfer deal which would see a number of players move to Forest in exchange.

The Telegraph he later supported links between Chelsea and Murillo but put the Brazilian’s price at around £70m.

Official contact between the two clubs is not yet believed to have taken place but Chelsea have inquired about his availability through intermediaries as they continue to make their summer transfer plans.

It is believed that Forest need to sell players before June 30 to avoid punishment from the Premier League for breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala are both in talks to move to Lyon which will ease Forest’s concerns.

Whether Chelsea will formalize their interest in Murillo remains to be seen, but any deal will take significant time to finalize, especially if Chelsea look to include players in their negotiations.
