Chelsea are in a good position to sign the Newcastle goalkeeper
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Burnley’s James Trafford as they look to land a new centre-back.
Following the recent announcement that Mauricio Pochettino will be leaving Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season in charge, many questions have been asked about the future of the club.
Despite expensive transfer windows, Chelsea have struggled to get back into the top four despite making a decent push at the end of the season.
There are still some very noticeable problems in the team as they still need reinforcements with a new number nine being undoubtedly their most important thing.
Also at the top of the list is the new goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez who failed to imitate the form he showed earlier in Brighton before moving to London.
According to reports from London World, the Blues want to sign England goalkeeper Trafford who is currently at Burnley.
Despite starting the season strongly, the 21-year-old spent several weeks of the campaign on the bench after being dropped by Vincent Kompany’s side who were relegated from the Championship.
Trafford only signed for the Clarets last year but could be open to a return to the Premier League especially if it increases his chances of international selection with a £20 million fee reportedly set to seal a move.
They may face competition though as Newcastle have been heavily linked with the player as they search for a replacement for Martin Dubravka.
