Chelsea are in danger of seeing a €40 million transfer go through after being flagged for major issues
Samu Omorodion’s move to Chelsea is set to end after he failed to “satisfactorily” get over his health according to reports in Spain.
Chelsea have agreed a £34.5m fee with Atletico Madrid for the striker and the 20-year-old striker is expected to complete his move before the start of the season.
Omorodion was part of Spain’s team that won gold at the Olympics after beating hosts France 5-3.
Omorodion’s move to Chelsea failed
The Blues have been looking for a striker and despite signing youngster Marc Guiu they were looking to add another goalscorer to their squad, and Omorodion was their pick.
Everything seems to be agreed between the clubs and the player, but the Spanish company Relevo reported that the deal is coming to an end after medical problems.
Relevo reports that the Spanish under-21 player traveled to London this weekend to seek medical attention but the issue that caused him to miss the Olympic final has raised some doubts as the deal is “on hold.”
The report added that Omorodion has returned to Spain with Atletico and Fabrizio Romano added that all parties are still working on a deal.
If true then Chelsea have followed the striker for much of the summer and clearly believe in his potential.
Omorodion joined Atletico last summer from Granada but spent the season on loan at Alaves where he scored nine goals in 36 appearances.
He won’t kick the ball for Atletico, but he is regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe.
Chelsea will be hoping to resolve the issue and get a deal done, but if not, they could turn their full attention to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, with the Blues in talks with their Italian counterparts over the possibility of the Nigerian being part of the deal. which would see Lukaku heading to Naples.
