Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed a new contract for the impressive striker

Chelsea were held 1-1 by Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in their third game of the season.

Nicolas Jackson’s goal in the first half was scored by Eberechi Eze to equalize in the second half.

The new manager Enzo Maresca will be disappointed with the result of this game as he feels that his team could have won it because of the chances they created.

With a loss, a win and a draw in three games this season, the Blues have started the season inconsistently.

Maresca confirmed after the game that Jackson is about to sign a new contract with the club, which shows that the club has full confidence in his ability, even though they are looking to sign a new striker in the transfer window.

Maresca said, while speaking to the media, as quoted by GOAL:

“What I know is that he is signing a new contract – I don’t know how many years.

“I am very happy. Nicolas did a great job with us. He also scored a goal. He got a lot of opportunities but we are happy with him.”

Chelsea striker, Nicolas Jackson, is about to sign a new contract with the club.

“I had faith, and the team, even before [in Jackson]. We trust Nicolas. When the window for trading players was opened, we said he was doing very well.”

The Blues have been linked with a search for a new striker throughout the summer. Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen were both chased by Chelsea but a move did not materialize for either of them.

Toney decided to join Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League while Osimhen stayed at Napoli.

Nicolas Jackson has started the season in great form for Chelsea

Jackson, 23, scored 14 goals in the Premier League last season and in three games this season, he has scored two goals.

The Senegalese is still young and is not the finished product that Chelsea want but the player has shown signs of developing into a world-class striker.

He has a tendency to miss easy opportunities but with more experience at a higher level, he can learn to change that.
