Compiled XI of the best signings of the 2024 summer transfer window so far

The 2024 summer transfer window is just one month away, but many clubs have done their business early and have already signed many top players.

From Man Utd making two big and incredibly smart players to Arsenal beating Juventus to one of Italy’s best defenders, there have been plenty of exciting transfers to enjoy so far.

Here’s our attempt to pick a combined XI of the best transfers of the summer so far.

Transfer: Monza to Juventus

Money: Loan

Thiago Motta’s transformation is well and truly underway at Juventus, with a huge upheaval of a great club being worked on at the moment.

Another big change has been made between the sticks, with Michele Di Gregorio set to take over from long-serving Wojciech Szczesny. And, by all accounts, it seems like a very good development for Juve.

The Italian goalkeeper was the best in Serie A last season, amassing the third-best save percentage and the most saves overall.

Transfer: Leeds United to Tottenham Hotspur

Fee: £30m

If you’ve ever played Football Manager, you’ll know how optimistic Archie Gray is.

And if you watched any of Leeds United’s games last season, you’ll know how good he is too.

The 18-year-old has been outstanding in his first football campaign and looks set to improve and improve after joining Tottenham this summer.

£30m would be a steal.

Transfer: Athletic Club to Atletico Madrid

Fee: £25m

Considering that Robin Le Normand was one of Spain’s most consistent players at Euro 2024, £25m looks like the perfect deal for Atletico Madrid.

Under Diego Simeone, expect Le Normand to play at club level for the next few seasons.

Transfer: LOSC Lille to Manchester United

Revenue: £52.2m

He may be out injured for around three months but few better long-term signings have been made during the 2024 summer transfer window than Manchester United’s acquisition of Leny Yoro.

The young Frenchman has the potential to become one of the best defenders in the world in the next few years.

Transfer: Bologna to Arsenal

Revenue: £42m

In Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal have signed a model for their kits with a foreseeable future and a brilliant defender.

The Italian international showed his skills at club level with Bologna last season and at international level at Euro 2024.

He is absolutely brilliant on and off the ball – which has long been perhaps the biggest reason Mikel Arteta wanted him.

Transfer: Troyes to Manchester City

Revenue: £30.8m

City have a player on their hands in Brazilian midfielder Savio.

The 20-year-old was fantastic for Girona last season (on loan to Troyes…or Man City…we’re not sure how it all works out), scoring 19 goals to guide the Spaniards’ highest ever points tally. La Liga is over.

Transfer: Aston Villa to Juventus

Revenue: £42.4m

To say that Douglas Luiz is an upgrade on Adrien Rabiot would probably be the understatement of the century.

The Brazilian looks set to build Juve’s midfield around him and, if he can perform in the same vein as last season, that will be a good move from new manager Motta.

Transfer: Fulham to Bayern Munich

Revenue: £47.1m

Finally.

After coming close to signing last summer – even jetting off to Germany for a medical before the deal fell through – Joao Palhinha has finally joined Bayern Munich.

The midfielder is exactly what is needed at the heart of Vincent Kompany’s Bayern. His strength in defense should give the club a solid base to build an attack on from 2024/25.

Transfer: Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich

Revenue: £50.8m

After scoring 16 goals in 14 Premier League starts last season, it’s safe to say that Michael Olise deserved a big move this summer.

Finally, after interest from Chelsea and Arsenal among others, Olise got that move to the biggest team in Germany – Bayern Munich.

The wide player’s creative prowess paired with Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala in the final third would be a match made in heaven for the Bavarians.

Transfer: Bologna to Manchester United

Fee: £35m

Before the 2024 summer transfer window, Man Utd rarely did business that you would consider ‘profitable’.

This summer however, in signing Joshua Zirkzee for £35m they finally got themselves a ‘deal’.

The striker’s self-possession alone, never mind his finishing ability, will make him a key player in Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Transfer: Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid

Fee: Free

Real Madrid signed the best footballer on a free transfer.

So yes, of course Kylian Mbappe is in this team.
