Conor Benn’s suspension has also been temporarily lifted after successful appeals

This is CONOR Benn’s place career prospects were dealt another blow last night after the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) lodged an appeal.

A UKAD statement read: “UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) can today confirm that with effect from 7 May 2024, Mr Benn is once again subject to a provisional suspension in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules.”

Benn, who is 23-0 (14 KOs) as champion, returns to the ring in September 2023 to fight Rodolfo Orozco in America before returning in February 2024 to defeat Peter Dobson. He has not competed in the UK since April 2022.

Benn was supposed to fight Chris Eubank Jr on October 8, 2022, in a main event designed to live up to the spirit of their famous fathers, Nigel and Chris Sr.

As their fathers managed in the 90s, the war had captured the public imagination. That was until Benn tested positive for the birth control drug clomiphene. He was officially suspended from boxing in March 2023.

In July 2023, Benn thought he would be cleared to resume his career following a ruling by the independent National Anti-Doping Panel. The BBofC and UKAD both appealed the decision separately.

“Mr Benn’s Interim Suspension was again lifted by the appeals body following a successful appeal,” continued last night’s UKAD statement.

“Mr Benn’s case is still before the independent National Anti-Drugs Panel and the case will proceed in accordance with the UK Anti-Drugs Act.” UKAD cannot make any further public disclosures at this time. “

Meanwhile, Benn was busy trolling the internet and speculating about the next fight. Hot on the heels of Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Manny Pacquiao, the latest name linked is that of Ryan Garcia who was last seen defeating Devin Haney before being involved in the PED scandal of his own.
