Controversy rises as Fair School heads into final 36 holes – Golf News

Edoardo Molinari will lead by two strokes in the final two days of the Final Stage Qualifying School, as he moves closer to securing a place to play on the 2025 DP World Tour.

The veteran Italian carded a 3-under-par 68 on the Lakes Course at Infinitum to move to 20-under-par for the week, two clear of Frenchman Clément Sordet by a solitary second.

Molinari led the six-round race after taking the lead after firing a second-round 61, and despite seeing his four-night lead cut to two, he is optimistic about his 36-hole chances.

“It would be nice to win it,” he said. “I’m trying to do my best and at the end of the week we’ll see where I’m at.

“I feel like I missed a few shots on the course the last few days. In the first two days I almost didn’t deserve to be under 17, so in the end it’s always freeing. I’m hitting the ball well and hopefully I can make some putts in the last two days.”

Molinari finished 140th in the 2024 Race to Dubai Rankings to miss out on retaining his DP World Tour playing rights, but looks set to repeat them soon after impressing through the first 72 holes in Tarragona.

South Africa’s Justin Harding carded a fourth-round 64 on the Lakes Course to move into third place on 17 under, with Scotsman David Law also signing for seven under 64 to share fourth place on 16 under par with the Dane Alexander George Frances and Albert Boneta of Spain.

Three players tied for seventh at 15 under par, including Norway’s Alexander Settemsdal, American David Bryant and Italy’s Filippo Celli.

CUT FALLS AT 7

A total of 83 players from the 156-player field made the cut on 72 holes, with the top 20 players tied after six rounds earning DP World Tour playing rights in the 2025 Race to Dubai.

Among the more notable names still in the hunt for the card is Eddie Pepperrell, who shot a fourth-round 69 to sit in 30th place at -10. The two-time DP World Tour winner is just two shots off the top-20 as things stand with 36 holes to play.

Those players who entered the final two rounds at the -7 cut mark are just five shots out of 20th place.

Among those who failed to advance to the fourth round were past European Tour winners Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Oliver Wilson, Marc Warren, Chris Wood and Kalle Samooja.
