Corner Report: Last Fall – Razzball Fantasy Baseball

The trade deadline has come and gone. Here are the trades that hit the corners, and others that hit soon after.

The deal: The Cubs get it Isaac ParedesRadiation benefits Christopher Morel

Morel shouldn’t lose any of his power in Florida but the pitching numbers may dip. They obviously like his XStats, and if you play in a league that uses them Morel is great. Major leaguers, well, they don’t hit .200. I would expect a few more at-bats from him as he works with him, and he has shown that he can’t handle third base, so a relief role is in his future.

This also opens up possibilities Junior Caminiero to get a call, too Curtis Mead to get an extended run. Both are eligible at third base. Mead is also 7 of his last 14! And Caminiero is a top prospect. Both of these guys rate higher than Morel, so Morel is likely to be a reliever, a Ben Zobrist model. Eish, this trade is not good for Morel

Don’t worry about Paredes and that stupid stat that says he would have lost 13 HR if he had played all his games at Wrigley. First of all, he would play part of his games there. Second of all, it’s rubbish statistics. He will continue to hit like he has for the past two seasons. Average batting average but very productive. There is no change in Isaac.

Diamondbacks got it Josh Bell

Josh Bell will continue to be Josh Bell. The deep league type of guy who when he hits the heater is good and valuable but when he doesn’t he’s pretty good. Arizona could get him at bats at first and DH. He didn’t have a heater, until now, so it might be coming. In his last 7 Bell is hitting .440 with 4 HR, so maybe it’s already there.

This is an insurance contract Christian Walker who was hit with The Dreaded Oblique. Bell will be the everyday player until Walker returns. Walker himself said the MRI was good news, and he should be back playing in three weeks. Bell is a good option to take short term though. Interesting that he was sold in the last 3 days so I hope his UHaul account is up to date.

The Marlins carried their entire team and nobody could pick him up at first. Jake Burger will play one position in the corner; some are about to be taken. Good luck lottery players!

Amed Rosario he’s taking his multi-position talent to the Dodgers where he’ll continue to have batting average, and hopefully vibes and aura and other buzzwords. It could be a scam if he gets the time.

Mark Canha he gets to go to San Francisco, where with flowers in his hair he goes to a group that really uses the platoon division to its advantage. Canha has an .857 OPS against left-handed pitchers. The guess here is that he gets every start vs. guys who throw with the wrong arm, and fewer pitchers vs. not-bad ones. If you enjoy the daily grind of scouting players and lazy bench sitters who don’t play, you’re the huckleberry for you.

Justin Turner he should grow his beard because he’s going to Seattle which is near Oregon with a lot of beards. Seattle is not a good place to hit. Turner is old. Nothing to see here, move on.

Non Trade Factoids

Vladimir Guerrero Jr he is hitting .552 with 5 HR and 10 RBI during his last week. Do you remember when he was washed?

Nolan Schanuel he had a crazy training schedule where he didn’t sit down all day. That doesn’t sound bad but have you ever represented someone in a wedding? That’s like 30 minutes (remember I don’t do weddings anymore) of just knee and foot torture. Good for Nolan he got a .600 OBP his past 7. Maybe the first round rusher in the majors is clicking.

Jonkensy Noel you break me Kyle Manzardo a loving heart. It will not last; the power will expect a lower rate. Fun player though.

Josh Jung has been activated since a long absence from Ranger. Josh Smith has been more than expected, and will probably shift to a support role. Jung was hitting .400 and just crushing the ball before the injury; maybe the wrist won’t shrink too much.

Tristan Casas towards renewal, the good kind. Keep checking to see if it’s still available; I will wait.

OK? Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your summer. And if you’re in a job that doesn’t have summer vacation, become a teacher. It’s really fun!
