CPL 2024 [WATCH]: Pakistan’s Azam Khan takes a stunning catch to dismiss Johnson Charles

Guyana Amazon Warriors put in an excellent all-round performance to secure a comfortable six-wicket win St Lucia Kings in Match 10 of Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. The match, held at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, saw the Warriors completely defeat the Kings in both batting and bowling.

St Lucia Kings are lax in batting

The Kings, after being beaten, struggled to put together 100 runs in just 14.3 overs. Matthew Forde was the bright spot, scoring 31 runs off 21 balls with two sixes and three boundaries. However, the batting order failed to offer any resistance, collapsing under the pressure of the Warriors’ direct bowling attack.

Imran Tahir again Gudakesh Motie were Guyana’s main destroyers, each taking three wickets. Their tricky spin kept the St Lucia batsmen tight, as well Keemo Paul two important wickets went in, the Kings found themselves unable to form a meaningful partnership, and ended up folding for a small total.

Amazing catch by Azam Khan dismisses Johnson Charles

One of the key moments of the game was Pakistan‘s Azam Khan taking a surprise catch is a dangerous chase Johnson Charles. The incident happened in the sixth over of St Lucia’s innings. Paul, who was swinging well, pulled the full ball outside the off stump. Charles, trying to drive on the off side, ended up playing away from his body, and was caught. Azam, standing behind the stumps, showed exceptional quickness and brilliance, diving straight to his right to complete a stunning catch. This catch not only got a key player out but also set the tone for the rest of the innings, as the Warriors’ batting line-up quickly came to a standstill.

Guyana Amazon Warrior’s powerful response with the bat

Chasing the target, the Warriors made quick work of the Kings’ bowling attack. Rahmanullah Gurbaz he led the way by scoring 47 runs off just 19 balls, hitting seven sixes in a display of raw power. Tim Robinson he also contributed 33 runs from 20 balls, ensuring that Guyana reached the target with 10 overs to spare.

Despite the disappointment of the entire performance, Noor Ahmad was outstanding against St Lucia Kings, bowled an impressive spell of bowling. He took 3 wickets for just 22 runs, including one attempt to stem the flow of runs. Alzarri Joseph and managed to take a wicket, but their efforts were not enough to stop Guyana’s relentless march to victory.
