Cristiano Ronaldo is pushing Al-Nassr to sign Mateo Kovacic
Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr are keen to sign Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the January transfer window.
According to CBS Sports, the Saudi Arabian club is willing to offer him a contract worth about $1 million per week to make the deal. The report also says that Cristiano Ronaldo is pushing the Saudi Arabian team to sign the Croatian midfielder.
Kovacic has not been able to live up to expectations since his move to Manchester City, but there is no doubt that he is a top player. The Croatian will add flair and control to Al-Nassr’s midfield and should prove to be an excellent buy for them.
Mateo Kovacic will promote Al-Nassr
The 30-year-old is at the peak of his powers and could make an immediate impact in the Saudi league. He has already proven himself in the Premier League over the years, most notably with Chelsea and may be open to a new challenge at this stage of his career.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester City are ready to let him leave in January. They lack depth when it comes to midfield and letting the 30-year-old move on mid-season would be a bad decision. They will be hoping to challenge for major trophies this season and need a deep squad with plenty of options available. Pep Guardiola will need to rotate his squad to keep young players.
Meanwhile, the wages on offer can be tempting for any player and it would not be a surprise if the Manchester City player is willing to leave. A player may feel that this could be the last big day of his career, and he may look to move on.
