David Raya gives an update on Arsenal’s permanent move
David Raya has admitted it would be a “dream come true” if Arsenal could secure his services permanently this summer as his loan spell from Brentford comes to an end.
Having kept 16 clean sheets, a feat worthy of a Golden Glove award, Raya has been instrumental in driving the Gunners to the Premier League title, and with the season now over, a decision must be made on his future.
Raya’s loan move from Brentford includes a buyout clause which he admits he hopes will be started as soon as possible.
In interview no i Daily Mailthe Spaniard admitted: “Yes, I would like to be here next season. It would be amazing, a dream come true to sign for this club.
“It’s not about me, the contract. It’s about the team and Mikel. If my performance is good enough, I hope they will give me a long-term contract.”
Arsenal are expected to trigger their buyout clause for Raya – a move that would end Aaron Ramsdale’s time at the club.
Ramsdale lost his place at the start of the season and ended the campaign with just 11 appearances in all competitions.
With the start of another season, Ramsdale is expected to consider his options this year and has attracted interest from Newcastle United, although the goalkeeper took to social media to insist that reports of a deal were premature.
