De La Hoya’s Clap Back Thursday: Berlanga’s Legacy, Haney’s Mishap, and the Canelo Diss

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya took aim at Edgar Berlanga, Devin Haney, and his favorite punching bag, Canelo Alvarez.

Berlanga’s Puerto Rican Heritage Is Under Fire

De La Hoya continued to criticize New York’s Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) regarding his Puerto Rican claims. Oscar notes that Berlanga got mad at him for not being Puerto Rican, and even dared to take out his birth certificate to prove his origin.

“Edgar Berlanga, I called you non-Puerto Rican. I just told the truth,” said Oscar De La Hoya in his book Clap Back Thursdays. “So, he got embarrassed and posted a picture of me as a 14-year-old that the world had seen and remembered a million degrees.

“Why would you just send your birth certificate from Puerto Rico unless you don’t have one? Don’t tell me you’re just another cripple who is offended by the truth. Come on, bro.”

De La Hoya is likely to continue hitting Berlanga until after the Canelo fight on September 14. This should be interesting until then. The two are headlining the DAZN PPV. The event price was revealed today at $89.99. Fans on social media have slammed the price tag, and they’re not happy about it.

Haney’s Fairground Fiasco

“In other news, Devin Haney had his comeback fight last week at the Orange County Regional Show,” De La Hoya continued. “I don’t know if you’ve seen the full video, but Devin throws a punch at a normal person, standing in front of the Ferris wheel and misses. Bro, your dream has officially turned into a nightmare.”

In a newly released video, Haney was seen throwing a punch at a thug, who some believe works at an entertainment venue.

“As always, a very important topic of the week. Canelo, [bleep] you,” said De La Hoya.

There is still animosity between De La Hoya and Canelo from their past.
