Denzel Dumfries is determined to leave Man Utd and block Inter contract talks

Denzel Dumfries plans to hold off on contract talks with Inter until after the summer transfer window as he looks to move to Manchester United.

The Dutch defender is in the final 12 months of his contract at the San Siro, where he impressed and played a part in the Nerazzurri’s 2023/24 title win after joining the club from PSV Eindhoven. Inter want to extend their stay in Milan, but Dumfries are said to have other ideas.

In accordance with Athletic, the Netherlands international is focused on securing a move this summer and the thought of a move to Old Trafford is particularly appealing. However, several pieces of the jigsaw will need to be put in place before that switch becomes a reality.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future still needs to be decided, with the England defender considering a move to West Ham United. The former Crystal Palace defender is heavily linked with a move to Inter, however, and a swap deal has been suggested by mediators.

It was previously reported that Inter could make a move for Wan-Bissaka, who has a contract at United until 2025, if Dumfries were to leave.

Unfortunately for Dumfries, the Red Devils are said to prefer to sell Wan-Bissaka to West Ham in order to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. United are locked in talks with the Bundesliga giants over a deal for Morocco international and centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

A joint bid for the two defenders was rejected last week, and Bayern director Max Eberl recently gave a vague update on De Ligt’s future.

United have already signed defender Leny Yoro but the young Frenchman faces a three-month layoff after picking up a foot injury in the pre-season defeat to Arsenal. Joshua Zirkzee has also arrived from Bologna.
