What an overwhelming feeling Novak DjokovicKemp after his 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 loss to Tomas Machac? Anxiety is a word.
“Of course I’m worried,” said the World No., in quotes published by the ATP. “I wasn’t playing well at all this year,” Djokovic said when asked about his chances of winning Roland-Garros.
“You have to accept it. I don’t see myself as a favorite there. I will take it game by game and see how far I can go.”
Djokovic has yet to reach the final in 2024. He was in Geneva hoping to change that, but struggled as he went 14-6 in the 2024 season.

“I don’t know what to think about this game to be honest. I want to forget about it and go to Paris,” he said. “It was good that I came here to play more than one game. I played three times,” said Djokovic. “I need to feel better. It is not fun when you suffer in court and feel this way. You can’t focus on tennis if you have other things going on.
“I just hope I can be in good shape and ready and prepare for Roland-Garros.”
Djokovic hopes to capitalize on the open court in Paris. With Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner struggling with injuries, and needing a balance game, there is no clear favorite.
Could experience be the key for the 24-year-old Grand Slam champion?
It certainly won’t hurt. Djokovic is 92-16 in Paris, and has won the title in two of the last three seasons. The big draw in Paris starts on Sunday 26th May.
