Eng vs Ind 2025 – Lord’s is under test again as India Test prices rise in 2025
Ticket prices for next year’s Lord’s Test against India have risen again, although the Marylebone Cricket Club has come under fire for the cost of admission to this summer’s Test against Sri Lanka.
For the first three days of the India Test, which starts on July 10 next year, the cheapest adult tickets on offer are restricted viewing seats at £90 each (£20 for under-16s). Those with a clear line of sight are priced between £120-£175 (£40-£50 for under 16s).
These prices compare badly with last month’s Test against Sri Lanka, where unlimited viewing costs ranged from £115-£140 for adults and £15-£40 for concessions.
That tournament in Sri Lanka ended on the fourth day, when only 9,000 tickets were sold (about one-third capacity). This was, in part, a reflection of England’s current pace in Test cricket, with several recent tournaments wrapped up before the final day.
The MCC came under further criticism for failing to offer any reduced entry options until after tea on that fourth day, when the price dropped to £15 for adults and £5 for under 16s. At that point, however, Sri Lanka were still three wickets down, and the lack of early warning prevented a significant takeover.
Speaking after the Test match, the captain of England, Ollie Pope, said that his team had seen a low spirit.
“It was like ‘jeez, it seems quiet today’,” he said. “I’m not sure if people expected this game to be done on the fourth day or not. It’s a shame that it wasn’t a full house because it was obviously a great game.”
Although Guy Lavender, chief executive and secretary of the MCC, has announced that the club will be reviewing its fourth-day policy, there is little concession to fans hoping to attend that day in next year’s India Test. Under-16s will be admitted for £25, half the cost of the first three days, but full-view tickets will still cost £90-£150.
The reason for the MCC is that India is now the second largest in the English Test calendar, behind Australia, and the figures reflect the potential demand, which is in line with the policy adopted by other sports.
Lord’s will also host the World Test Championship final in June, currently between India and Australia, a rematch of the 2023 final at the Kia Oval. Tickets for that game are set at between £70-£130 for adults and £20-£50 for under 16s.
England and India are also set to play a women’s ODI at Lord’s in 2025, for which adult tickets will cost between £25 and £45. A men’s ODI against South Africa, on the other hand, will cost between £75 and £150.
