Erik Ten Hag is excited by the ‘most famous’ Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United have made a winning start to their 2024-25 season.
The Red Devils welcome Fulham to a sold-out Old Trafford in the Premier League opener on Friday night.
Coming into the game, the pressure was on Erik Ten Hag, who saw the phrase ‘we’re not ready’ taken out of context.
However, the Dutchman handled his critics with skill despite finding a starting line-up without a striker. Mason Mount and captain Bruno Fernandes played as two False 9s with Marcus Rashford and Amad operating in wide positions.
Erik Ten Hag is happy with Noussair Mazraoui’s debut
There was also the debut of new player Noussair Mazraoui.
The Moroccan joined from Bayern Munich a few days ago and quickly rose to prominence. The 26-year-old performed admirably though, and his manager was full of praise for his efforts after the game.
“He is a good defender, but, as I said before the game, he is also very careful of the ball; attack,” the United manager told the team.
“He is not in full condition at this time. If he gets 100 percent fitness he can do more, but I’m very happy with his performance. He stayed for 70-75 minutes, and now he has to build up his stamina.”
Mazraoui’s departure from Bayern is reported to have cost United £17 million; money that Red Devils fans will appreciate given their history of paying the most for players in the past.
