ESPN content president: I’d be lying if I said we didn’t care about Charles Barkley

Houston Rockets: The Rocket family mourns the loss of beloved coach and general manager, Carroll Dawson, known as “CD.” For nearly three decades, CD has been a cornerstone of our movement, helping to shape stars like Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson. A proud Texas native, CD served as the only coach to attend all four of Houston’s NBA Finals appearances, including back-to-back championship teams. As general manager, she brought iconic talents to Houston including Charles Barkley, Steve Francis, Yao Ming, and Tracy McGrady, while putting together the four-time WNBA champion Houston Comets. While CD’s contributions to basketball were impressive, it was his character that really stood out. We will deeply miss his positive spirit, infectious humor, and kind hearted nature.
