Specially speaking CaughtOffside in his Daily Briefing column today, Romano said that Juve and Thuram are now at the ‘here we go’ stage of the agreement, and they also want to continue to strengthen other positions.

Thuram has been impressing in the Juventus midfield alongside Douglas Luiz, who recently joined from Aston Villa, while Michele Di Gregorio could be the next high-profile signing to give the Turin giants a new goalkeeper.

Romano also says that we could see new defenders and young players for Juventus, while playing down the links between Thuram and the Premier League clubs.

The transfer of Thuram and the most ambitious plans of Juventus

Khephren Thuram is set to join Juventus

“All in all, it looks like a busy summer for Juventus, who have already signed Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, and now we are ‘here’ for Khephren Thuram to join from Nice. They will continue as they sign Di Gregorio from Monza as their new goalkeeper, and they will continue with one midfielder, one defender and more ,” said Romano.

“Juventus is smart about Thuram, they closed the deal one year before the end of his contract for 20 million euros and 5 million euros. Despite the rumours, there was nothing really close to the Premier League teams. No one really progressed in the discussions with Nice, it was just a look and that’s it. “

It would be great to see the Frenchman in the Premier League, but now we will see how he fits in as part of this exciting new-look Juve side under new manager Thiago Motta.

It’s been a tough few years for Juventus and fans are hoping these changes could mean the club can finally compete at the top of Serie A again.
