Fans erupt as Abhishek Sharma becomes first Indian to score T20I century against Zimbabwe

Abhishek Sharma made a spectacular entrance to the international stage India with a stunning century against Zimbabwe on Sunday (July 7) in the 2nd T20I of the five-match series. His century came off just 46 balls in Harare, marking a remarkable comeback after conceding a four-ball duck in the match. the first T20I of the series.

From the start, Abhishek was aggressive, starting his innings with a deep-square leg for six overs and continued to overwhelm the Zimbabwean bowling attack. He particularly targeted the spinners, sending them to all corners of the park throughout his innings. His century marked him as the 10th Indian cricketer to achieve this feat in T20Is, the first to do so against Zimbabwe. His 46-ball century stands as the third fastest by an Indian in the T20I format, with Rohit Sharma leading the list with a century off 35 balls.

Aggressive batting against Zimbabwe

While Abhishek hit 8 sixes and 7 fours, he maintained his aggressive style. Despite being unlucky when he fell for 27 in the 8th over, he took his chances. He was noticeably different Dion Myers for 28 runs in one over too Wellington Masakadza by 21 runs in the other. Abhishek reached his century with a six, emulating the way he started his innings, sweeping Masakadza to fine leg in the 14th over. Unfortunately, he got out trying another big shot on the next ball after reaching his milestone.

Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad propelled India to a ridiculous score
