It’s rare for a caddy’s golf shoe to speak volumes but who better to ask than someone who walks the golf course hour after hour every day.
Alex Evans is a PGA Professional and caddy for Paul Waring who won in Abu Dhabi last week.
Waring not only achieved the biggest win of his career at the age of 39 but also secured a PGA Tour card for next season with a host of names at Yas Links.
And Evans is the first player/caddy on any major tour to sport the new FJ Quantum shoe having received a pair shortly before its launch earlier this year.
“I’ve worn the FJ Quantum a lot this season and it’s a very comfortable shoe, not just a golf shoe but the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn,” said Evans.
“When I walk more than 10km a day on the golf course it is very important for me to feel comfortable when I work and that is exactly what the FJ Quantum gives me.”
FootJoy describes the Quantum as ‘cloud-like comfort’ and this comes from combining it with its softest foam in the space. This is something called SofFOAM and it provides high maintenance for all day walking comfort.

So when you step on the shoes they feel like new. Otherwise there are some neat additions like the rollover collar construction for comfort out of the box and easy heel access.
This is a great option if you want to rest your feet a bit or hit a lot of balls but they are a quality golf shoe in their own right, taking inspiration from the traction technology featured in the Pro/SLX. and HyperFlex.
Waring himself wore the FootJoy Premiere Series Field upper which is among the most popular shoes in the UK.
“I switched to the Premier Series Field this season as I really liked the old style but what surprised me the most was how much stability the shoe provides,” said the player who has won twice on the DP World Tour.
“Of course they gave me the best in both games, I can’t blame them. The lace pattern on the Field creates a custom fit that adds to the levels of functionality and comfort.”
