Former No.1 Pick Throws Big Shade at LeBron James

Former All-Star Kwame Brown, who played for the Lakers in the mid-2000s, thinks LeBron James’ game hasn’t improved in 21 years in the league.

“It’s the same way he’s been playing,” said Kwame as he continued Swish Cultures recently “He’s a cutter, a cutter, and he’s gotten a little better at three. But the problem is, when he plays teams like Chicago or Boston, who have real strong principles, he has a problem. And so the old school players wouldn’t have a problem with LeBron because, at age 39, he should have developed a mid-range and post game, and he still hasn’t. He still has the athletic ability to walk 94 feet – which, I don’t know how, he still has. But if he didn’t have this athleticism, his game didn’t improve except for threes and putting his head down and going to the basket. He doesn’t walk like Paul Pierce, he gets in the zone, he pulls. These are the things you usually see in a star player.”

James’ improvement from the three-point line is definitely something to note and not ignore. In 2022-23, he made just 32.1 percent from three, but last season, he increased it to 41 percent.

LeBron is also about to turn 40 and still dominates most of the league with his skill and athleticism. Without him, Team USA may not have been able to win gold in Paris this summer.

Therefore, Brown’s criticism should be taken with a grain of salt, as it comes from one of the biggest busts in NBA history.

Brown isn’t too impressed with the James family as a whole it seems, because he recently called LeBron’s son Bronny James.
