Frank Lampard was inspired by Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has said he believes his former club are “on the edge” under Enzo Maresca despite the Blues failing to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The West London side drew 1-1 with the Eagles but were the better of the two teams on the day and could have come away with all three points. This follows the 6-2 thrashing of Wolves last week and Lampard sees progress at his former club.
The pundit is encouraged by the talent at Chelsea and believes their top players can cause many problems for opposition teams this season.
Speaking ahead of matchday 2, Lampard said there will be ups and downs at Chelsea this season, but he believes there is a better feeling around Stamford Bridge since he took over as interim manager 18 months ago.
Maresca had a lot to deal with in the summer in terms of signings and now that the window is closed, the new Blues boss can get a job coaching his players into the team he wants them to be.

“Regarding where they are, Maresca mentioned today that they are not the same team that won the Champions League and he is right,” said Lampard on BBC Match of the Day.
“I was there 18 months ago and at that time, it was a really low point in my opinion because it didn’t feel like a team that had been successful for 20 years.
“A lot of that was natural and doing that was right. I feel like they are on the way up but there will be good days and bad days because of the squad.
“But there is a lot of talent and if they can continue to improve, especially at the end of the field, they can give teams a lot of problems.”
Lampard is right about the talent available in Maresca but with those top players at Stamford Bridge, that doesn’t make the job any easier for the former Leicester City coach.
