Garmin introduces smartwatch with rangefinder – Golf News

Garmin has expanded its range of distance measurement devices by introducing the The way Z30 laser range finder.

The low-end device promises excellent range performance and introduces a Range Relay feature, which sends different distances to a compatible Garmin smartwatch or the Garmin Golf smartphone app. Once a target is locked in by the Approach Z30, the range and laser range arc will be displayed on the paired Garmin device to give players a visual indication of the pin’s location and everything in play around it.
Designed to provide golfers with increased awareness of conditions on the course, the Approach Z30 delivers fast and accurate distance readings up to 400 yards, offers players six times magnification with the viewfinder and vibrates when locked onto the pin.

Dan Bartel, Garmin’s Vice President of Global Consumer Sales, said: “Golfers will love using the Approach Z30, which integrates easily with many other products in the Garmin ecosystem. You’ll never need to guess your distance to a pin as the Z30 gives you quick and accurate measurements and displays them on your compatible smartwatch or smartphone. It is also an excellent stand-alone tool with its own speed and accuracy, making it an exceptional addition to any golfer.”

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE Z30 METHOD

  • Important information: Watch the distance from the pin to the front and back of the green to help gauge how the shot is played.
  • Playing distance: See how far each shot should play in yardage adjusted for elevation changes. For an even greater level of accuracy, pair with a compatible device to get PlaysLike distance that includes air density, which affects how far the ball will travel.
  • The Garmin golf ecosystem: Take full advantage of the Range Relay feature by pairing the Approach Z30 with the Garmin Golf App, or popular smartwatches including the Approach S70, Approach S62, Approach S42, fēnix 7 series, epix (Gen 2 ) series, MARQ collection (Gen 2) and More.
  • Tournament mode: An external indicator light informs competitors that the device is only providing data within the rules.
  • Magnetic mounting: Easily store the range finder with the included magnetic mount when riding on a golf cart. It comes with a carrying case with a carabiner, which allows it to hang in a golf bag when traveling on the course or after a round.
  • Find my Garmin: If the Approach Z30 is ever lost, players can use a feature on the Garmin Golf app to see its last known location.

Not only does the Garmin Golf app provide players with premium features on the Approach Z30, but a Garmin Golf membership (£8.99/month or £89.99/year) gives users access to Green Contour Data, which allows them to see the course green slopes for specific courses on their phone or Garmin device. Using slope information, golfers can determine how much the ball will release after a swing, know which side of the pin is best to hit and know the best miss in the worst conditions.

Available now, the Approach Z30 laser rangefinder has an RRP of £389.99.
